Chevron Amethyst is a naturally banded variety of quartz formed through alternating layers of purple amethyst and white quartz, created as mineral-rich fluids crystallized under changing conditions deep within the Earth. The distinctive V-shaped or zigzag banding—often called “chevrons”—records shifts in temperature, pressure, and chemical composition during the stone’s growth.
Amethyst itself is a form of quartz colored by trace amounts of iron and natural irradiation within the crystal lattice. The white bands are quartz that crystallized without those color-causing conditions, resulting in visible stratification that reflects the stone’s geological timeline rather than surface decoration.
These polished free forms are shaped to highlight the natural banding and internal structure of each piece while retaining organic contours. No two are alike; variations in pattern, contrast, translucency, and color depth are inherent to how each stone formed within its original rock environment.
