These polished petrified wood palm stones are fossilized remnants of ancient trees, preserved through a slow geological process that unfolded over millions of years. Once living wood, each piece has undergone permineralization, where mineral-rich groundwater gradually replaced the original organic material cell by cell, most often with silica. The result is stone that retains the original grain, growth patterns, and structure of the tree itself.
Sourced from Indonesia, these pieces display a wide range of natural earth tones—warm browns, tans, creams, and occasional reds or grays—reflecting variations in mineral content during fossilization. Subtle banding and linear patterns visible on the surface mirror the tree’s original growth rings, offering a direct visual record of deep time.
Each stone is polished into a smooth, pillow-shaped palm stone and calibrated to approximately 45 × 35 × 15 mm, making it comfortable to hold while still large enough to showcase detailed internal patterning. No two pieces are alike; variations in color, grain, and translucency are natural and expected.
This listing is for one intuitively chosen palm stone.
