More about Malacholla:
This stone is a natural combination of malachite and chrysocolla, two secondary copper minerals that form in the oxidized zones of copper deposits. Over long periods of time, copper-rich solutions move through rock fractures and cavities, depositing layers of green malachite and blue-green chrysocolla as conditions shift. The result is a single stone that records multiple stages of mineral formation within one body.

Malachite contributes the deeper green banding, while chrysocolla forms in softer blue and turquoise tones. In some pieces, traces of quartz or other copper minerals may also be present, further stabilizing the structure. Because these minerals form through variable chemical environments, the distribution of color and pattern is never uniform. Each piece reflects a unique sequence of geological events rather than a repeatable design.

Deposits of malachite and chrysocolla are found in copper-rich regions around the world, including parts of Central Africa, Peru, and the southwestern United States. This free form is from Congo. Stones where both minerals remain naturally bonded are less common, as they require specific conditions to form and remain intact.
